The talents required for this can be used for a variety of joint activities with the Puli. This is done in harmony with the shepherd, because he cannot be everywhere at the same time and therefore needs clever "colleagues". Just a few years ago, a Hungarian shepherd paid his annual salary to purchase a Pulis as a herding dog. A video about a Puli while herding can be found at the end of the article.

Sportiness

In addition to natural intelligence, a Puli was also expected to have a high degree of sportiness. In order to keep large herds together, you need to be in good physical condition, enjoy movement and have enormous jumping power. Pulis jump from a standing position onto the sheep or cattle to get an overview of the herd. The good news is that they still have this sporting potential. But as owner of a Puli you do not have to operate it all the time. The Puli is satisfied when he is allowed to be with his "human".

Strength of character

Anyone who has ever stood in front of an adult bull knows what courage and character strength it takes to mess with such a colossus. He also brings this personality into the dog training, in that you don't have a will-less devoted dog, but an established dog with personality. Also its unconditional reliability and the close relationship to its caregivers make the Puli a loyal and cuddly friend on 4 paws, which carries you away and inspires you.

The application possibilities of this versatility

Sport and leisure

These three cornerstones of the Puli offer its owner a wide range of possibilities. In the following , we will only mention a few fields of activity that our members of our club together with their Pulis.

Obidience: The Puli is very docile and likes to take on the different exercises of obedience.

Dog Dance, Agility and Fly ball: Here the intelligence and the sportiness of the Puli are used together very well.

Guard: This is the core discipline of Puli and it is very impressive to see him at work

Hiking in the mountains: Apart from stamina, one characteristic is particularly pleasant when hiking or walking - the Puli does not hunt, it simply does not care. This fact in itself is relaxing.

Rescue dog squadron: Since the Puli likes to learn and has a good stamina , the variety of challenges in the rescue dog relay is exactly his thing.

Riding: Even brisk rides of several kilometres are a welcome change for the Puli. With trained listening signs you can then safely steer the Puli from the horse.

The Puli as family dog

On the one hand, the Puli can be totally committed to the cause and on the other hand, it's just as okay for him to just be there. So it is also possible to go with him to a restaurant or to have a chat at the weekly market. The Puli then lies down on her feet and is satisfied. You will also notice that after a walk the Puli simply lies down at home and is quiet.

In the family, the Puli forgives the baby or toddler for some rudeness like pulling the villi. Very patiently he then lets the clumsy love affirmations come over him and when it gets too much, he just gets up and leaves. We have many young families in the association who can no longer imagine a family without Puli. Pulis and children belong together.

The versatility of the Puli gives the owner a large number of possibilities to be happy together. No matter what you decide on - the main thing is that the Puli is allowed to be with you. A Puli is not a kennel dog! There his great personality would wither away.

The versatility of the Puli The Puli, a Hungarian shepherd dog, is a multi-talented dog due to his original field of activity in Hungary and also in Germany.
